When literally translated from French, goûter is a verb meaning to taste, but it is usually used as a noun to describe the snack between lunch and dinner.
It has been served in schools and after-school programs nationwide since 1941. Isabelle’s goûter is a popular version of the snack, but there are variations, including other forms of party and cookies.
