Loretta Lynn’s granddaughter Emmy Russell and teenager Triston Harper were eliminated on Sunday’s two-hour live Disney Night episode of American Idol on ABC.

Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan looked momentarily stunned as Emmy, 25, and Triston, 15, were sent home in the final moments of the show when the audience voting results were announced.

Lionel, 74, raised his hands in the air.

The show began with Lionel, Katy, 39, Luke, 47, and host Ryan Seacrest, 49, riding Disneyland attractions together and walking around the park singing. At the end of the song, Luke and Lionel smashed their yellow ice cream cones into Katy’s face.

During the show, each of the top five contestants sang two Disney songs. Since it was Mother’s Day, each of them also brought her mothers to watch her performance.

Katy, dressed as Cinderella, came out on stage. She turned and her short dress transformed like Cinderella’s into a long blue dress.

Kane Brown, 30, was this week’s Mega Mentor. Abi Carter, 21, from Indio, California, went first and told Kane that he was going to sing Part Of Your World from The Little Mermaid. She said he chose the song because her sister’s name was Ariel.

“I want you to interact with the crowd,” Kane said.

Abi, wearing a long silver sequin dress, took the stage as original Disney art was displayed on screens behind her as she sang.

“It was one of the best performances I’ve ever seen,” Luke said.

“It was fantastic,” Lionel said.

“A dream is a wish that your heart makes and your dream comes true,” Katy said.

Triston, a high school student from McIntosh, Alabama, was next. Triston told Kane that he was going to sing Almost There from The Princess and the Frog. Kane told him that he needed to sing it in a higher pitch.

“He’s going to be a star,” Kane said.

Nashville’s Emmy Russell told Kane she was going to sing Miley Cyrus’ The Climb. Kane encouraged her to “come out of her shell.”

“This whole journey has been about moving up and not letting that other negative voice in your head be loud and every step of the way you’re conquering it,” Katy said. ‘I think you have it. Sometimes miracles take a little time and your miracle is on the way.’

Emmy almost started crying on stage as she became emotional thinking about her experience on the show.
