It seems the weight loss industry has a new target customer: Golden Globe watchers.
During Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards, attention was focused not only on the actors themselves, but also on the seemingly endless weight-loss commercials that seemed to be peppered throughout the show’s breaks.
When the awards show was in full swing, CBS had already shown commercials for Ozempic, Mounjaro and Weight Watchers.
In recent years, GLP-1 medications, which have historically been used to treat type 2 diabetes, have become extremely popular as a weight loss aid after they were approved by the FDA.
Ozempic contains a compound called semaglutide, which “mimics the hormone GLP-1,” according to UCLA Healtha hormone that can work with your brain to suppress appetite and make you feel full more quickly.
When taken in high doses, combined with diet and exercise, it can help people lose weight.
In Hollywood, it has taken off in particular, and celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Sharon Osbourne and Rebel Wilson have admitted to taking a weight-loss drug.
But now, his commercials have started appearing at the Golden Globes, and X fans have taken notice.

“Every other commercial during the Golden Globes about weight loss injections is so cool I love it,” one user wrote.
Another agreed, writing, “Watching the Globes telecast and Americans literally have an ad for Mounjaro (Ozempic)… that country is soooo,” along with a meme from The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
‘I love the Ozempic commercial. The era of “it’s okay to be fat and body positivity is over, you look disgusting, take Ozempic, you fat pieces of shit,” someone else said.
One X user wrote: “The Golden Globes sponsored by: Ozempic and Botox.”
“Well done Lilly promoted Mounjaro during the Golden Globes,” another seconded.
Even host Nikki Glaser made a joke about the drug GLP-1 in her opening monologue, telling the audience that it was “Ozempic’s biggest night.”
Glaser’s monologue at the Golden Globes kicked off the first awards show of the season.
