One of Aldi Australia’s most popular seasonal buys is hitting the center aisle on Wednesday, but shoppers will have to be quick if they want one.
The famous Lou Laguiole 24-piece cutlery set comes in black, white and oatmeal and sells out within hours when it returns to shelves annually.
The set costs only $29.99, which is almost unheard of for such high-quality cutlery. As a result, it has always been one of the most anticipated stories.
The elegant sets, which come in a pinewood storage tray, sell for up to $349 on Lou Laguiole’s website.
The cheapest price they sell elsewhere is $119 on Catch, the discount retail platform.
The sets are released in January each year, although colors may differ, often causing long queues in stores across the country.
The German supermarket first offered the cutlery set in 2019, inviting savvy shoppers to win a game by naming their ideal dinner guest.
Since then, budget games have been a “must buy” for those unwilling to splurge on the more expensive versions.

“They are beautiful,” one wrote.
“I have these and they always compliment me when I invite people over,” said another.
“Last year I received two sets for when I have dinners,” said one more.
Others warned that the cutlery doesn’t take as well to the dishwasher.
“Make sure you only wash them by hand or the bees will fall off,” they said.
Described as “the most beautiful cutlery in the world”, Lou Laguiole has always been highly sought after.
While dupes aren’t hard to find, the fact that Aldi sells the “real deal” always gets people talking.
Therefore, Aldi has warned that, due to high demand, the cutlery is likely to sell out on the first day.
