The King will return to public duties today after doctors said they were pleased with his progress following cancer treatment earlier this year.

Charles, who has been a patron of Macmillan Cancer Support for more than 20 years, will travel to a treatment center on Tuesday.

He will be accompanied by the Queen, who is president of cancer charity Maggie’s.

King Charles and Queen Camilla met Lesley Woodbridge, who is receiving her second round of chemotherapy for sarcoma, and her husband Roger Woodbridge during a visit to University College Hospital’s Macmillan Cancer Centre.

Charles and Camilla were also shown around the facilities on a tour of the hospital.

King Charles and Queen Camilla were ecstatic at their first public engagement since the king’s cancer diagnosis.

King becomes new sponsor of Cancer Research UK

King Charles has agreed to become the new patron of Cancer Research UK, it can be announced today.

The monarch will be able to bring his experience to the role, having undergone treatment this year for an unspecified form of cancer.

One of the charity’s research centers is based at University College Hospital, where the King and Queen Camilla are visiting this morning.

MailOnline understands the hospital was not chosen because it has a link to the King’s treatment or a form of cancer, which has not been revealed.

The King will visit a cancer treatment center with Queen Camilla this morning as he returns to public duties for the first time since being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.

On Friday, Buckingham Palace issued an update on the monarch’s health, saying he was responding positively to treatment and would return to his engagements, although his diary will remain “carefully calibrated.”
