Jake Stringer has revealed his exploration of the Islamic faith and how he now regularly attends mosques in Melbourne, as the Essendon striker enjoys a bright start to the season.
A week after being embarrassed by Port Adelaide, the Bombers were ready for contention with a 15.6 (96) to 9.13 (67) victory in a tussle at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Friday night.
Stringer, 29, scored two goals to continue his fine form in the 29-point win over the Bulldogs.
Seven journalist Mitch Cleary revealed after the game that Stringer’s form coincides with his exploration of the Islamic faith.

“Like anything, once you start, you’re open to different paths,” Stringer said. Seven.
‘That’s what I’m doing right now. It’s something that interests me. I go to Daurah most weeks and really enjoy it.
‘(I’ve learned) just that there’s more to life than the day to day, which is good.
“I’m healthy, I feel good and I enjoy my time on and off the field, which is the most important part.”
Stringer’s goal celebration this year involved pointing to the sky, which he revealed is related to faith.
“Yes, it is (related to Islam),” Stringer confirmed.
‘It’s more about brotherhood.
‘I followed it the first week and have stuck with it ever since. That’s literally it and I’ll probably stay like that for the rest of the year.”

The Essendon star revealed he has been attending different mosques in Melbourne.
Stringer fasted during parts of Ramadan this year with former bomber Adam Saad, who is a Muslim player.
“Saady has been amazing,” Stringer said.
“I spoke to him several times during Ramadan and (he) offered me guidance.”
