Football legend and radio presenter Brendan Fevola has returned to the field for a Division 3 clash in Melbourne’s north-east.

The 43-year-old striker donned brown and gold for Heidelberg West in Saturday’s match against Fitzroy Stars.

The stars started strongly after the start of the game at 2:10 p.m., with 16 points in the first quarter, 35 in the second and 43 in the third.

Fevola and the Hawks put up about 25 points in the fourth quarter and ultimately lost by 46 points to the Stars.

Coleman Medal winner Fevola’s guest appearance is his second time taking part in the Northern Football Netball League.

Fevola took to the field playing for Hurstbridge in 2016, before joining the Hawks following a sponsorship with General Chicken Co owner Nuri Sadiku.

Heidelberg West president Craig Toohey told the Herald Sun the club had been looking to sign a standout player and Fevola was the ideal candidate.

“We’ve never played as the star player before and we’ve lost a couple of players overseas, so we had the points,” Toohey said Tuesday.

‘We thought why not, we looked into it and threw some names around and it didn’t work.

“We have a connection, Fev plays SuperRules with our sponsor Nuri at General Chicken Co, he asked if I was interested and before you know it he agreed.

“We also have our previous players’ day, we’ve had a lot of messages so I hope everything falls into place and it’s a good day.”

Joining the Carlton Football Club in the 1998 AFL Draft, Fevola made his debut in the 1999 season with 42 goals; even though Carlton finished last that year.

Fevola had a checkered AFL career, debuting in 1999 for Carlton and playing 204 first grade matches, kicking 623 goals.

She then became a regular panelist on The Footy Show, before joining Fox FM to present Fifi, Dave, Fev and Byron from 2016 to 2017.

Most recently, he starred in 10’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here and last year played the Captain in The Masked Signer Australia.
