Abrdn is facing a backlash from investors over its new Chief Financial Officer’s £675,000 salary.

Shareholder advisory group Glass Lewis believes Jason Windsor’s salary is too high because it is more than the equivalent salary at comparable asset managers and more than his predecessor earned.

Glass Lewis recommended that shareholders vote against the FTSE 250 group’s pay report on April 24.

It questioned why Windsor’s salary is 25 per cent higher than what Stephanie Bruce was paid before he replaced her last October.

But Abrdn said he had “significant experience” as a finance chief and had “several years working at large publicly traded companies.”

It’s another headache for Abrdn after Abrdn announced last year that 10 percent of its staff would be laid off following a dismal performance.
