Abbott Elementary starring Quinta Brunson is renewed for a fourth season on ABC… just days after season three debut

Abbott Elementary just started classes for the 2024 school year, but the Emmy-winning comedy will continue enrollment through 2025.

The good news was announced by the school’s custodian, Mr. Johnson, also known as William Stanford Davis, 72, during the Disney Television Critics Association press tour, according to Deadline.

The show’s producers welcomed the announcement on social media, writing, “Because we all deserve a little more Abbott in our lives.” #AbbottElementary will return for season 4!

The first episode of season three kicked off with a bang Wednesday night with an hour-long premiere.

The story uniquely explains the show’s absence from the airwaves due to strikes by writers and actors that paralyzed production for several months during the summer.

Abbott Elementary has been renewed for a fourth season just days after the third season debuted on ABC.

They wrote a story that the school’s lack of coverage was because the camera equipment was stolen and it was too poor to quickly replace its equipment.

The episode also included some special guests at the Philadelphia-based school: Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles, along with teammates Brandon Graham and Jason Kelce.

Creator and star Quinta Brunson, 34, won the Emmy for best comedy actress for her work in the second season.

She shared the news on social media and has already received offers to be a guest star.

‘I’m applying to be the choir director. Abbot needs an a cappella group,” suggests comedian Amber Riley.

“Congratulations,” wrote American Idol finalist Paris Bennett, “I can’t wait until a role for this show crosses my agent’s desk.”

Fargo actor Lamorne Morris joked: ‘No. I refuse to be a guest star. Thanks for asking. But no… unless you ask. So. I am down.’

William Stanford Davis, 72, who plays Mr. Johnson, the school janitor, made the announcement at Disney’s Television Critics Association press tour.

The show was a ratings hit in its second season, earning a strong 3.56 for adults 18-49.

Those were the strongest numbers for an ABC comedy since the 2019-2020 season, when Modern Family ended its 11-season run.
