Last night, revelers across the country started the Easter bank holiday weekend in style by taking part in a big outing on Thursday night, meaning many won’t have the best ‘Good Friday’ ever.

Thousands of Britons braved the gusty weather to descend on pubs, bars and clubs to begin their Easter celebrations.

The impressive session came despite the best efforts of Storm Nelson, which battered the south with 70mph winds, heavy rain, hail and thunder.

Colorful images showing punters falling off stadiums in Leeds, Nottingham and Newcastle show the staggering scale of the Easter debauchery.

Other shots showed clubgoers using clothing as makeshift umbrellas as they battled the elements in search of the next icy jar.
