Spaeny stars in the highly anticipated Civil War, the drama from writer-director Alex Garland (Ex Machina, 28 Days Later) set in an America where the states have left the Union.
The actress plays Jessie, an aspiring photographer who accompanies famous war photojournalist Lee (Kirsten Dunst) and journalist Joel (Wagner Moura).
They all travel across the United States while the entire country is embroiled in a Second Civil War.
The war is fought between the United States government, the Western Forces of Texas and California, the Florida Alliance, and the New People’s Army.
Spaeny revealed to People that her co-star Dunst inspired her to become a better actress while growing up in Missouri.
‘It’s a very strange thing to understand, you know? I grew up in Missouri. Obviously I loved movies. “I never imagined the day I would be working in movies,” she said.
“And then I found her work with (Sofia Coppola), and that was really the key that opened me to realizing that I wanted to be an actress, was Kirsten’s work with Sofia,” Spaeny explained.

“So the fact that after all these years I ended up starring in a movie with her, and then she was the person who recommended me and got me the role that changed my life with my favorite director of all time, it’s just hard. to express it in words,’ he admitted.
‘It’s really a coincidence. “It’s kind of creepy,” she said, referring to the fact that Dunst recommended her for the lead role in Priscilla.
He added that it was the last day of filming Civil War when Spaeny told Dunst that she got the role of Priscilla.
“She told me, ‘You’re going to have a good time, you’re going to look beautiful and you’re going to be sad in the bathtub,’ and all those things happened. It was the best thing to do right after the Civil War.”
