An Antiques Roadshow guest was amazed to discover the value of two chairs her husband bought from a charity show and used as beds for the family dogs.
The latest episode of the BBC series came from Derry, Northern Island with a woman collecting the furniture which cost £10 each.
Expert Mark Hill described the chairs as ‘battered but beautiful’, which the owner said was exactly her first thought when her husband brought them home.
Before I admit, ‘The orange material put me off a little, but it doesn’t put the dogs off and they sit on each one and look out at the view’.
Mark went on to gush over the ‘beautiful’ object’s ‘curved lines and sculptural form’ before revealing they were the work of renowned American designer Adrian Persall, who founded Craft Associates.

The expert said that while they needed to be ‘grinded down’ before they pouted, she would also need to ‘clean the dog hairs off’ before they were sold.
He went over to the valuation and said: ‘You’re looking at around £600’.
Stunned, the lady could only muster a ‘thank you’ before admitting that despite the value, the dogs would still be allowed to sit on them.
It comes after another guest was left “shivering” after learning a wine glass bought for 50p from a stiff stall turned out to be incredibly rare at over 300 years old.
She told expert Andy McConnell: ‘It belongs to my dad, he saw it on a cool stall, (the owner) wanted 10p, my dad liked it so he gave him 50p’.
Stunned, the antiquarians joked: ‘Oh, I really like it, can I have it for a pound?’ before we proceed to reveal the origin of the wine glass.
He said it was called a “heavy baluster” because of the 30% lead glass, and revealed it dates back to 30 years after the invention of lead crystals.
To say: ‘George Ravenscroft perfects the formula for lead crystal in 1676, and that’s 30 years later. It is about 1705-1710, which dates it to over 300 years old’.

Continuing the valuation, Andy finished with a smile: ‘£2,000’ as the woman threw her hands over her mouth, as if devastated.
Before the pundit added: ‘Get a drink out of it tonight for dad.’
