She was a constant reassuring presence throughout her daughter’s life.
It is therefore safe to say that Carole Middleton will support Kate Middleton throughout her cancer treatment.
The Princess of Wales, 42, announced today that she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy following successful abdominal surgery in January.
While the Prince of Wales was by his wife’s side – and represented her at her engagement – Kate’s parents Carole, 69, and Michael, 74, appear to have been eagerly in attendance.
The couple, along with Kate’s siblings Pippa Matthews and James Middleton, have supported the royal’s recovery at her Windsor home, which is close to their own home.

In a video statement released today, Kate said: “In January I had major abdominal surgery in London and at the time it was thought my condition was not cancerous.
” The operation is a success. However, tests carried out after the operation revealed the presence of cancer.
“My medical team therefore advised me to undergo preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of this treatment.
“This was of course a huge shock, and William and I have done everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”
Kate’s recent outing with her mother, Carole, marked her first sighting since Christmas Day.
The royal was pictured sitting in the passenger seat of Carole’s Audi 4×4 near Windsor Castle. The photos were taken shortly before 9am, suggesting the mother and daughter were returning from school.
Kate was likely doted on by her caring parents after leaving the hospital in January.
Carole and her husband Michael, 74, have long been known for their hands-on approach to parenting and often host their grandchildren for sleepovers.

Talk to TatlerInsiders who knew Middleton’s children from school said the family was known for “doing everything to the highest standards”.
“On sports days there were huge picnics, the smartest tennis rackets, that sort of thing. It made us all pretty desperate,” another parent told the outlet.
“Ultimately, Carole played a blinder as the mother. Not only are all of her children unfairly beautiful, but they are also known for their charm.
“Always the first to write a thank you letter, they dance all night and are always the first to get up in the morning to plump the cushions and do the dishes.”
Carole was also said to have always been “one of the girls” with her daughters, meaning they would never hesitate to involve their mother in their lives.
The Princess’s parents were also able to provide a privileged education for the Princess, who attended Wiltshire’s famous boarding school, Marlborough College.
Kate and her younger siblings James, 36, and Pippa, 40, attended the institution, and it is said to have transformed the future queen from a “shy, bullied girl” to a ” hockey captain who caught a prince.”
