A father remembers the terrifying moment his one-year-old daughter was almost kidnapped by a stranger.

Nathaniel Denver said his daughter walked with her mother close the intersection of Alamein Lane and Graham Crescent in Traralgon, south-east of Melbourne, around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, when they were approached by the man.

The man, aged between 40 and 50, suddenly picked up the one-year-old girl who was holding her mother’s hand as they walked near Stockdale Primary School.

Mr Denver’s partner managed to kick the man who then dropped his daughter before fleeing on foot and heading east towards Graham Crescent.

Mr Denver said other parents in the area claimed to have seen the same man behaving strangely on several other occasions.

“Everyone has had enough in Traralgon, we are just done,” he told Daily Mail Australia.

“We can’t even have kids on the streets now because of this happening all the time.”

Mr Denver said his child suffered bruising to her arm when the man tried to pull her away, but his daughter and her partner were otherwise well.

He claimed his partner saw the same man looking at her as she stood in her garden talking to a friend a week earlier.

Police were called to the scene following the incident and remain searching for the man.

A Victoria Police spokesperson told the Daily Mail the man was described as white and had a “tan complexion”.

“He was wearing a brown and white beanie, a black, gray and blue shirt and dark colored pants,” the spokesperson said.

Mr Denver shared the heartbreaking story on a Facebook group on Thursday to urge parents to look after their children.

“This morning my partner and our 1-year-old daughter were approached by a man in Alamein,” he said.

“He tried to run away while my daughter grabbed his arm and pulled her towards him, breaking his lip.”

Mr Denver said the man was also wearing a jumper and had a tattoo under one of his eyes.
