A young woman who was chased down the street by two men and shot dead days before Christmas had a string of criminal offenses and even spent time in jail.
Police believe Chloe Mason, also known as CeeJay, from Caboolture, north of Brisbane, was assaulted in the middle of the night and tried to flee down a suburban street when the pair chased her.
Police attempted to resuscitate the 23-year-old until paramedics arrived, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The murder weapon has not yet been recovered and the two mysterious men remain at large. Detectives believe the attack was not random.
Daily Mail Australia can state that at the time of her death, Ms Mason was facing a number of charges in the brisbane Court of First Instance and the supreme court.
A close friend took to social media to pay tribute to her “prison sister”, remembering how they communicated through cell vents during nighttime lockdowns.
“Rest in peace CeeJay Mason,” the post began.
“We will all miss you so much, my prison sister, fly high huni.”

Police are yet to identify two male perpetrators who they believe chased Ms Mason along Railway Parade in Caboolture (pictured) before they assaulted and shot her.
A day after his murder, a chilling photo appeared on social media showing Mason making a gun with his hand.
Investigators are creating a task force of local homicide detectives to try to provide answers to the young woman’s family.
One witness said he heard “about three or four gunshots and then a little bit of moaning.”
Residents of another property on the street were questioned, although detectives maintain they have no confirmed suspects.
“We have a number of witnesses who are currently assisting us, however we do not have anyone in custody,” Detective Inspector David Harbison said.
“It is a tragedy to lose such a young life in such a violent way, so we will get to the bottom of it. It is the best thing we can do for the family at this time.”
On Sunday, Mason’s devastated sister launched a fundraiser to share a heartbreaking message.
“Chloe was chased by two men and shot dead on December 22, 2024 in Brisbane,” Hannah McKone posted on GoFundMe.
“Chloe was only 23 years old.”
‘Being so close to Christmas, his family has no savings or financial means to organize a funeral for him.
‘We kindly ask for help and support in this. All donated funds will be used directly for Chloe’s funeral.

Another sister, Danni Mason, remembered Chloe as a “daughter, sister, aunt and friend… who was loved by many.”
“This loss has devastated our family and we are finding it difficult to accept this so close to the holidays,” he wrote.
‘As sisters, we mourn the things she will not experience, all the things we cannot share and the memories we will not create. “She was an incredible woman.”
As of Monday afternoon, GoFundMe has raised more than $7,000 in donations.
‘The response has been overwhelming. Thank you all very much for your support. “The family truly cannot thank the community at large enough,” the GoFundMe campaign said.
‘We have started investigating funeral arrangements and didn’t expect how expensive it would be. $4,600 has been set aside for Chloe’s burial site.
