Brisbane Lions AFL grand champion Aaron Shattock is fighting for his life after being crushed by an excavator.
The 44-year-old man is in a critical condition at Gold Coast University Hospital and has suffered multiple serious, life-threatening chest injuries.
Premiership winner Shattock played 57 games for Brisbane between 2000 and 2004.
Most notably, he appeared as an interchange during the 2002 Grand Final, helping the Lions beat Collingwood.
He would later move to Port Adelaide before being delisted by the club in 2006.
Seven News reports that the former football star was “driving an excavator when it rolled.” It is understood Shattock was trapped underneath the machinery.
“Emergency services had to use the jaws of life to free the 44-year-old man before he was taken to hospital with serious chest injuries,” 7News said.
More to come.
