‘I had an unexpected minor surgery on Thursday afternoon after feeling a little unwell.
“It turns out I had a cavity a little deeper than the wound tract that was filled with old hematoma and wasn’t draining properly with a wound vacuum or normal packing.”
On Thursday she underwent surgery to wash the wound and close it with sutures and a drain.
Following surgery, Shiffrin has been recovering at her home in Edwards, Colorado.
‘The worst thing right now is that I can’t get to the finish line to watch my teammates compete in the @bcworldcup in person. But I’m watching and cheering on TV!’ She shared on Instagram.
There is no set timeline for his return to competition.
Injuries interrupted his attempt to add record-breaking achievements to his career, including five World Cup titles, two Olympic gold medals, one silver and seven world championships.
Shiffrin holds the record for most World Cup wins by any alpine skier in history, surpassing Lindsey Vonn’s women’s record of 82 wins in January 2023 and Ingemar Stenmark’s record of 87 wins in March 2023.
Despite the setback, Shiffrin remains optimistic and grateful for the attention she has received.
‘So grateful for all the wonderful care and support I have received!’ “He continues to focus on his recovery and hopes to return to the slopes in the coming weeks,” he posted.
