Locals have recalled how a couple fed penniless customers for free at their burger joint before their son allegedly stabbed them to death.
Hoa Tek Chiem, 69, and Heang Kim Gau, 68, were found dead inside Buzzy Bee’s Burger House in Cambridge Park, in Sydney’s west end, about 9.40am on November 30.
Police arrested his son, Allan Chiem, 31, at around 12.30am the next day at a Canley Heights home before he was charged with two counts of murder.
Hundreds of locals gathered outside the couple’s restaurant during a candlelight vigil over the weekend to remember the generosity of the burger joint owners.
“I’ve seen people go in there and they have absolutely no money and they give them food,” Brian Donovan said. 7News.
Another said they “helped everyone in the community” and that their deaths were “a huge shock.”
Other locals said at the vigil that they would “keep his memory alive.”
Chien and Ga’s eldest son contacted police after coming across the grim discovery of his parents’ bodies at the scene.

Chiem will spend Christmas behind bars after being refused bail at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.
His matter was transferred to Penrith Local Court in January.
Chien’s lawyer, Mohamed Sakr, has asked prison services to conduct a mental health assessment on his client before he appears in court again in the new year.
He later confirmed that his client was filmed on Saturday on the roof of the burger restaurant.
“Every defendant deserves representation,” Sakr told Nine News.
The couple were known for their dedication to their business, which was open seven days a week.
It is understood the couple were making plans to retire shortly before his death.
Former Buzzy Bee’s Burger House employees said the couple were more like family than bosses.

Their 31-year-old son Allan Chiem was arrested early the next day and will spend Christmas behind bars after being accused of allegedly murdering them in their shop (pictured).
Buzzy Bee’s Burger House was closed following the alleged attack while flowers and cards with messages paying tribute to the hard-working couple piled up outside.
‘They dedicated themselves to this place. I pray that you both rest peacefully,” one card said.
Thanh Tran, owner of a nearby bakery, recalled seeing the couple’s family as officers cordoned off the store.
“At around 9:30 in the morning, the eldest son visited the store and then the youngest son came and the two hugged and cried for an hour,” Mr Tran said.
‘The police got them boxes of milk to sit on and they hugged each other, they sat and cried, and they looked very sad, it was very sad.
“And the police stood around and watched them (while they talked and cried).”
