An English winemaker has had to delay this year’s harvest due to bad weather.
Gusbourne, based in Kentwhich is two-thirds owned by his Conservative peer Lord Ashcroft, said “the 2024 harvest will start later in the month”.
A spokesperson said the delay was “due to difficult and variable weather conditions during this year’s growing season.”
He added that a harvest of “high quality but reduced yield compared to last year’s record 2023 harvest” was expected.
AIM-listed Gusbourne said revenue fell 3 per cent in the first half of the year to £3.3m, while losses widened to £1.9m from £1.4m. million pounds sterling in the same period of 2023.
When the results were published, chief executive Jonathan White described “a challenging market environment that has resulted in more difficult trading conditions”.
