A pampered traveler is under fire after calling Delta’s first-class wine service a “nightmare,” in part because flight attendants weren’t aware of the different wines available.

One woman, known on TikTok as @topknotsandlayovers, had a lot to complain about after a bad experience while flying in a Delta One seat from Paris to Atlanta.

“It was all a nightmare,” he fumed after getting off the flight in a TikTok“The food wasn’t good, the service wasn’t good. The high-end wine experiences they made big press releases about aren’t actually that good.”

But it wasn’t just the bad wine that made her angry, it was the flight attendants’ lack of knowledge and their supposed “passive-aggressive” behavior that really infuriated the passenger.

“The flight attendants didn’t have any notes, they couldn’t even identify the bottle,” she said. “I thought, how can this be a superior experience?”

She said long-haul international airlines would never do that to customers, but Delta’s service couldn’t be “more basic,” especially when it claimed its flight was selling for more than $7,000.

Current Delta One prices for the Atlanta to Paris route retail between $11,000 and $15,000 on its website.

His biggest complaint with the airline was the behavior

Her biggest complaint with the airline was the “passive-aggressive” behavior of the flight attendant, who was not familiar with the wine list. “The food was not good, the service was not good. The luxury wine experiences they made big press releases about are actually not that good,” she said.

“I was really hopeful, since they said they were going to improve their experience and make their premium product even more premium, that I would be able to have a different experience here in 2024. That didn’t happen,” she said in the Aug. 1 TikTok video.

Many commentators were quick to criticise the MIT student’s flight, with one user writing: “We have different versions of the disaster.”

“A flying NIGHTMARE? Because the FA knew nothing about wine? Fuck you!” wrote one user.

Another mentioned the fact that during a full flight review, the traveler had shown that he had seen a wine list.

“But you have a menu that literally has a page listing all the wines in detail like bffr,” the user said.

Another wrote: “Who cares if the flight attendant didn’t know what wines were available? The wine list and description is on the menu… Just READ IT lol!”

“Maybe it’s because flight attendants aren’t there to know what damn wine you’re drinking,” one wrote in a scathing comment. “Wait until there’s a medical or airplane emergency, then you’ll see what they’re there for. My god, what a privilege.”

In a follow-up video to her full review of Delta One, she wasn’t much nicer, complaining about the food being “nothing to write home about” and not liking the Missoni amenity kit she was provided with.

“It’s crazy that flight attendants aren’t sommeliers at the same time,” wrote another.

Another simply wrote: “The smallest violin in the world.”

However, not everyone disagreed with her criticism, saying Delta One was “not worth it” and that they were “not impressed” with the experience.

In a Tracking video In her full review of Delta One, she wasn’t much kinder, complaining that the food was “nothing to write home about,” despite the variety of options. The frequent flyer was served cod smothered in sauce, polenta, asparagus, a croissant, jam and more; while her husband enjoyed blueberry crepes.

However, she admits that “the dessert cart was one of the highlights of the night for me.”

The car appeared to have a large variety of desserts and she received what appeared to be a doughnut. She also received some late night snacks including a dark chocolate bar, butter sticks and baked cheese crackers which she said “went really well with some wine.”

She was also given a cold cuts board as a snack before landing, but complained that it was a “very small” portion. The other option was a mini pizza.

The flyer also complained about the Missoni amenity kit that came with her ticket because it contained Grown Alchemist lip balm and hand cream, as well as earplugs, a toothbrush, a pen and some compression stockings.

Despite not having enjoyed the wine experience in exchange for the Missoni amenity kit, he was kinder about the amount of space offered by first-class tickets: “ample legroom” that would be “quite comfortable” even for taller passengers.

She also liked the Air France lounge she was able to enjoy before boarding the flight, especially the air conditioning.
