Australian pool star Lani Pallister has withdrawn from the 1500m freestyle heats at the Olympics after testing positive for Covid.

The 22-year-old had been hopeful of winning a medal but will now rest ahead of Thursday’s 4x200m freestyle relay.

She withdrew from the 400m freestyle before the Games started and was replaced by Jamie Perkins, to save energy for her other events, including the 800m.
