Vikander went on to say that she had acted out childbirth on-screen four times before experiencing it in real life, adding: “Your job is to pretend you’re an actress, but every time I had to give birth, I said to every woman on set, ‘I’m sorry.’ I felt like an imposter.”

The star kept more details about the couple’s second child private. In 2021, they quietly welcomed their first child, a son, after tying the knot in 2017.

The beautiful actress has been busy working on her new film Firebrand, which focuses on King Henry VIII’s sixth wife, Katherine Parr. Jude Law will play the king’s scoundrel.

On finding a balance between her career and personal life, Alicia added: ‘I’m working two jobs right now and I’ve reached a point where I’m finding the balance between work and having a family.

‘Now I boil it down to two things: the people I really want to work with and the projects that I think are going to give me a creative and joyful moment. I have the privilege of being able to choose whether I work on these great projects or not.

‘I always feel sad when I finish a job. Especially if it’s one of those good ones, which as I get older is what I look for.

“I had it at Firebrand. It was a very hard course, but we had a great time. So there is a sadness that it is over, but it is also like having done a sprint. I am tired and at the end of the work I have already started thinking about something else.”

“You have to go with the flow. You can’t control your own work, which is a very strange feeling. But then you realise that that’s what it really means to be an actor. It can be very difficult at times. Obviously, working with people and directors you trust really helps.”

Alicia and her husband Michael began dating in late 2014, after meeting on the set of their film The Light Between Oceans.

The couple tied the knot in a romantic ceremony three years later in Ibiza, Spain, in October 2017.

The Swedish actress revealed in September 2021 that she had quietly welcomed a baby boy with Michael earlier that year.

Last year, Alicia spoke out about the pain she went through after suffering an “extreme” miscarriage before becoming pregnant with her first child.

She spoke about the “painful” struggles she faced on her way to becoming a mother and admitted to The Times that it “took time” for the couple to conceive their first baby together.

“We have a son now, but it took time,” she said, before revealing she had suffered a “painful and extreme” miscarriage before becoming pregnant with her son.

She also compared her experiences to her 2016 film The Light Between Oceans, in which she and Michael played a childless couple who suffer two miscarriages and eventually adopt a baby girl who is lost at sea.

Alicia added: “(The abortion) was very extreme, very painful to overcome and, of course, it reminded me of the movie (The Light Between Oceans). That movie has a different meaning now.”

The Danish Girl star added: ‘Sometimes you go through difficult situations in life and if you have an office job you can get away from it a bit.

She has avoided speaking publicly about her son with Michael, but in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in 2022, Alicia opened up about motherhood, stating that she always puts her “little family” first.

She said: ‘In my little family, with my husband and my son, we travel together, always. That’s the rule. We do jobs so that one of us can always be with the baby.’

During that same interview, the Tomb Raider star shed some light on her fertility issues, telling the publication that she had “struggled for a while.”

She said: “I was trying to get pregnant for a while so I had a tough time during lockdown. I struggled for a while. For a while I didn’t think I could get pregnant.”

She added that she decided to talk about her problems to help other women who go through similar experiences.
