Aaron Rodgers finally addressed the media for the first time since his trip to Egypt

Aaron Rodgers finally spoke to the media about his “beautiful” trip to Egypt after skipping the New York Jets’ mandatory minicamp to visit the banks of the Nile last month.

Speaking from the American Century Championship golf tournament near Lake Tahoe, Nevada, Rodgers confirmed reports that he was in Egypt in June when he skipped mandatory minicamp after participating in voluntary OTAs.

The team ruled Rodgers’ absence “unexcused,” resulting in more than $100,000 in fines for the decorated quarterback, who is coming off a torn Achilles tendon that kept him out for all but one series of the 2023 season. Rodgers is expected to attend training camp, which begins July 22 in Florham Park, New Jersey.

“I felt good all spring,” Rodgers told NBC Sports during the celebrity golf tournament. “I had some good organized team activities. I had a beautiful trip to Egypt. And this (tournament) is like the final marker: Summer ends on Sunday.”

‘Going up the 18th hole is a bittersweet experience, but it’s fun to be here.’

The offseason has been good for Rodgers’ golf game.

The former Super Bowl champion claimed he hit a hole-in-one during a recent outing in Las Vegas.

“In my first round, I was fortunate enough to hole out on 17 at Shadow Creek,” Rodgers said. “That’s been the highlight of my golf offseason.”

While Rodgers remains atop the Jets’ depth chart, the team has experienced significant turnover at the quarterback position.

Backup Zach Wilson was traded to Denver, while the Jets added veteran Tyrod Taylor and selected Jordan Travis from Florida State.

Like Rodgers, Travis is coming off a season-ending ankle injury after fracturing and dislocating the joint during a Seminoles game in 2023.
