Hailey Welch, popularly known as the ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl, has filed an application to trademark her catchphrase after rising to fame giving out sex advice on the streets of Nashville.
Earlier this week, Welch launched her own company called ’16 Minutes LLC’ and filed for full rights to use her sensational line on merchandise items including hats and t-shirts.
Welch, 23, is seeking a trademark for apparel and entertainment services, namely comedy shows and podcasts about “comedy and current events,” according to documents seen by DailyMail.com.
As a requirement for the submission, Welch also submitted a photograph of a beige and brown hat with her phrase “Hawk Tuah ’24. Spit On That Thing” written on it in red, which was made in collaboration with Tennessee-based hat company Fathead Threads.
Hailey Welch, popularly known as the ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl, has filed an application to trademark her signature phrase after launching her own line of merchandise last month.
While Welch was more than happy to share sex tips with millions of people, she kept her fans in the dark about the name of her company.
Nashville, Tennessee-based 16 Minutes LLC may be a clever play on words in reference to his attempts to have more than 15 minutes of fame following his viral interview.
The name of the new company may also be a nod to his life-changing line: “You gotta give that hawk tuah and spit on that thing, you know what I mean?”, which is made up of 16 words.
According TMZWelch and his management team are planning to send cease and desist letters to retailers who try to use “Hawk Tuah” on clothing for profit.
The presentation, as well as his new company, come as a surprise after he told Brianna Lapaglia at the Plan Bri Uncut podcast that she was hesitant to be the ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl forever.
On July 1, she revealed that she had quit her factory job and hired a manager since the clip of her explaining how to “make a man go crazy in bed” for Tim & Dee TV racked up more than three million views on YouTube after airing on June 19.
Welch appears in the viral street video that has made her an Internet sensation.
As a requirement for the submission, Welch also submitted a photograph of a beige and brown hat with her phrase “Hawk Tuah ’24. Spit On That Thing” written on it in red, which was made in collaboration with Tennessee-based hat company Fathead Threads.
Asked what her parents think about her viral comment, Welch replied: “They think it’s hilarious… you never know what’s going to come out of my mouth.”
Welch had initially isolated herself in rural Tennessee, where she lives with her family. Friends and family built a protective wall around her to shield her from publicity.
Since she became the center of attention, she explained that she had received “disgusting offers” from fans who tried to contact her through the man she partnered with to offer her special “Hawk Tuah” merchandise.
She said: ‘Three days ago, the guy who makes my hats was offered $600 to spit in a jar and sell it. That’s disgusting! It’s just disgusting, isn’t it?’
She joined Lapaglia, aka ‘Brianna Chickenfry,’ just two days after sharing the stage with Lapaglia’s boyfriend, Zach Bryan, at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium.
In the wide-ranging interview, Welch confirmed that he had gone out drinking that night, but that his comment was meant as a joke and that he “didn’t mean anything by it.”
The rising star was then asked who his celebrity crush was in a game called “Hawk Tuah or Nah.”
Welch sells two different types of hats with the phrase written on them, one with a leather patch and one embroidered.
Haliey Welch, 23, aka the ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl, sat down with Brianna Lapaglia on the Plan Bri Uncut podcast on Monday.
Lapaglia first asked Welch what she thought of her own country singer boyfriend and told her to “be careful.”
Welch and Chelsea Bradford, the friend who was standing next to her in the viral clip, burst out laughing before telling Lapaglia: “I love you, but hawk tuah.”
The couple was interested in Morgan Wallen, but didn’t recognize Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown.
At first they didn’t recognize Dave Portnoy, the owner of Barstool Sports, either, but after Lapaglia showed them a photo, they gave him a “Hawk.”
The 21-year-old joined Lapaglia, aka ‘Brianna Chickenfry’, just two days after Lapaglia joined the podcaster’s boyfriend Zach Bryan on stage at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium.
Welch and Bradford also balked when asked about professional boxer and YouTuber Jake Paul, but immediately turned down the offer to ‘hawk tuah’ former President Donald Trump.
Lapaglia then asked the internet sensation how she felt about being known as the Hawk Tuah girl, something Welch said she doesn’t want to be called for the rest of her life.
Welch also denied rumors about where she and her family worked. Initially, the Internet said Welch was a school teacher who was fired after the video surfaced and that her father was a preacher.
“I worked in a spring factory, I’m not a school teacher,” she said.
“My father is far from being a preacher, it’s crazy.”
She said that after becoming famous she quit her job and now plans to travel around the county and “be on a show and a bunch of podcasts and everything else.”
