Scottie Scheffler is expected to compete in the PGA Championship this week after his wife Meredith gave birth to their first child.
The Masters winner has remained silent on social media, but said before the Augusta tournament that his first child was “three weeks away” and that he would leave the field if Meredith went into labor during the competition.
Now, according to Sports Illustrated Reporter Bob Harig.Their baby was born, and as a result, Scheffler will be at the PGA Championship in Valhalla.

Scheffler won the Masters earlier this year with an absolutely dominant performance at Augusta.
Rory McIlroy won at Quail Hollow on Sunday and looks in great shape heading into the PGA
One fan responded to Harig by asking, ‘Why are you using the hashtag babyborn when her baby isn’t born yet?’
Harig simply responded, “Because that’s the way it is.”
Scheffler is notoriously cagey about his life outside of golf, but he’ll be prepared for plenty of questions about his newcomer if he sticks to his Tuesday news conference.
Scheffler will be the favorite to emerge victorious in the second major of the year, despite Rory McIlroy’s magnificent triumph at Quail Hollow on Sunday.
McIlroy cruised to victory with an impressive six-under final round, edging Xander Schauffle by five strokes after starting day one behind the American.
McIlroy will now try to end his 10-year major league drought at the site of his last win in 2014 and admitted on Sunday he felt luck was on his side.
World number one Scheffler has been electrifying in 2024, winning four of his last five tournaments.
McIlroy, meanwhile, is looking for his first big win in 10 years next week.
“I’m going into the next major of the year feeling very good about myself,” he said.
‘It seems like the stars are aligning a little bit. But I have a lot of golf to play and a lot of great players to try to beat.”
None more so than Scheffler, if Harig is right.
The world number one played the RBC Heritage the week after the Masters and won that tournament by three strokes. Scheffler has been nearly unstoppable in 2024, winning four times in his last five starts and finishing second in the other.
However, since that win at Harbor Town, he has focused on his family.
Scheffler, 27, has won two Majors, with both wins coming at The Masters.
