This is the incredible moment a heroic K9 Mercury found a missing 85-year-old woman clinging to a tree in a steep Colorado ravine.

Greenwood Village Police Department Officer Austin Speer and his four-legged companion, Mercury, a German Shorthaired Pointer, went searching in the woods after receiving a report from relatives about the missing elderly woman.

The video shows Officer Speer holding a very long leash following Mercury’s lead as the dog led him down the grassy path.

The dog sniffed and advanced at a quick pace, while the officer spoke to him: ‘Good boy, friend. My cheerful friend.

According to the woman’s daughter, her mother had tried to climb the hill before she ran out of breath and couldn’t move, so she was lost for two hours.

She expressed how grateful she was for Mercury and Officer Speer’s help in finding her mother, calling it “amazing.”

“This is my mom and I am so grateful for Mercury and Officer Speer, the kind and professional girl I spoke with and everyone involved in this team effort to save my mom, who was ‘gassed’ after attempting to climb this hill and couldn’t move,” he wrote.

‘I had been looking for her for two hours and Mercury and Officer Speer found her within 10 minutes – AMAZING! It was like watching a Navy Seal extraction – I’m so grateful to live in Greenwood Village city government.’

The Greenville Police Department said in a news release that K-9 Mercury, who joined the force a year and a half ago, is “trained in missing person search and tracking” as well as narcotics apprehension.

After the rescue, the woman was reunited with her family, but the trio would surely take a photo together.

The department expressed its gratitude to Officer Speer and Mercury, with additional support from Corporal Brandon Runyan and Officer Roberto Moya, and thanked them for keeping their “community” safe.

Many people took to the police department’s Facebook happy to hear the good news.

‘Bless you, Officer Speer and K-9 Merc. Great job finding this sweet lady,” one person wrote.
