In this episode of No limit on roomsYahoo Sports Senior NBA Writer Dan Devine sits down with CBS Sports’ James Herbert to discuss the six teams he’s most interested in heading into the 2024-25 NBA season.
The guys start off by talking about the Houston Rockets, who are overloaded with young talent but looking to make a quick playoff run. Do they need to make a consolidation trade? Dan is intrigued by the Indiana Pacers, who aren’t talked about like other contenders in the Eastern Conference despite playing in the Eastern Conference Finals last season.
James picks the Memphis Grizzlies, continuing his theme of Western Conference teams that missed the playoffs last season, and both wonder what the Grizzlies’ true potential is with all their players back and healthy. Dan picks the Cavaliers, who brought back everyone and made a head coaching change to try to get over the hump this season.
James’ final pick is Victor Wembanyama’s team, the San Antonio Spurs, who he says will be transformed with the additions of Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes. Dan’s final pick is the Miami Heat, who after a disappointing season and playoff performance didn’t do much in the preseason, unless you count them for refusing to offer Jimmy Butler a contract extension.
