A 6.5 magnitude earthquake hits the coast of Tonga

A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Tonga.

The earthquake was recorded at 20:05 UTC on Tuesday near the Vava’u island group.

Geoscience Australia reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, there is no tsunami threat to Australia.
