NFL prospect Tyler Owens has revealed that he doesn’t “believe in space” or “other planets” and subscribes to flat earth theories that he finds “interesting” and “valid.”

Speaking to reporters at the NFL Combine on Thursday, the Texas Tech defensive back, the favorite to record the fastest time in the 40-yard dash, made sure to stand out from other college football stars with his comments and beliefs.

When asked what had been discussed that he doesn’t believe in, Owens, 22, said: “No, I don’t believe in space… you know, I’m religious, so I’m like… We’re alone right now.” I don’t think there are other planets and things like that. I don’t know.

‘I used to believe in heliocentricity. Like we used to solve around the sun and stuff, but then I started seeing flat Earth stuff, and I thought, that’s kind of interesting. They began to raise some valid points.

‘I mean, I don’t know. It could be real. It could be nonsense. I don’t know.’

Owens is coming off his fifth season in the Big XII after playing three seasons at Texas before transferring to Texas Tech ahead of the 2022 seasons. He totaled 30 sacks and two pass deflections as a super senior.

Weighing in at 218 pounds on Wednesday, the Texas native certainly doesn’t lack confidence heading into the Combine.

In addition to his bizarre comments, Owens told reporters that he expects his 40-yard dash time to be “somewhere in the 4.2 seconds.”

The 22-year-old is one of the favorites to run the 40-yard dash in the fastest time, as he hopes to be in “the 4.2s somewhere.”

In the past, high-profile athletes, such as NBA stars Kyrie Irving and Shaquille O’Neal, have openly expressed their “modern flat-Earth beliefs.”

Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles also came out saying that people wouldn’t believe how many NFL players believe the Earth is flat.

He once said on an episode of New Heights, a podcast he hosts with his brother, Chiefs TE Travis Kelce: “I was on the practice field last year and one of our coaches was walking by and I said: “Man, how many people do you think in this camp believe the Earth is flat?

And he said, “I don’t believe, there’s no one here who believes that.” I said, “You’d be surprised, if you started doing surveys, you’d be surprised.” And before I even finished that, someone right next to me said, “I mean, how do you know it’s not?”
