Zooey Deschanel and her fiance Jonathan Scott have yet to “figure out” wedding plans after getting engaged 16 months earlier in August 2023.
The New Girl actress, 44, said “yes” after the Property Brothers star, 46, popped the big question at Edinburgh Castle, but the couple have been too busy to sit down and make concrete plans for your next nuptials.
While speaking recently with PeopleScott jokingly admitted, “I can guarantee you that we’ve done absolutely 0% more work.”
‘We’ve had a lot going on. Maybe that’s my New Year’s resolution: we have to figure out this wedding.
However, the couple, who first crossed paths in 2019, have some ideas about what their special day could look like.
Last year, in June 2024, Jonathan shared that both he and Deschanel want an “amazing party” with their loved ones.

During an interview with Us weekly At the time, the TV personality stated, ‘The ceremony, the pomp and circumstance, we’ll get that out of the way, and then the reception will come.’ “It’s going to be wonderful.”
She also shared that they “haven’t really picked” a date for the wedding, but shared, “We’re working on it and I think our goal is to keep it intimate.”
Scott, who has a twin brother, Drew, also reflected that if he had met Zooey years earlier, their relationship may not have worked out.
‘Zooey and I were very different people. I mean, we’ve both been married before, but even when we were younger, you’re looking for different things, and who knows what we were looking for at the time?
A few months earlier, in November, his brother Drew joined Jonathan as he spoke with Collider about his series Don’t Hate Your House with the Property Brothers.
At one point, the topic of their impending nuptials came up and Jonathan humorously said of both himself and Zooey, “We’re useless.”
‘No, we don’t have updates. We haven’t done any yet. Maybe that should be my New Year’s resolution. We have to solve it.
Drew then chimed in to add, “I’m not allowed to make any vacation plans until they figure that out, because I guarantee that if I say, ‘Okay, I’m finally going to book this vacation,’ then John will be there.” like, “That’s the date.”

Deschanel first crossed paths with Jonathan in August 2019 while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke.
Just a few months later, the couple went Instagram official with their budding romance.
In November of that year, the 500 Days Of Summer actress and the television personality made their red carpet debut while attending the Critic’s Choice Documentary Awards together.
The couple then took the next big step in their relationship by getting engaged when Jonathan popped the big question during a family getaway to Scotland in August 2023.
That month, she took to her main Instagram page to show off the stunning ring while announcing the big news to her fans and followers.
‘Forever starts now!!!’ Deschanel gushed in the caption and received congratulatory messages in the comments section from other celebrities and social media users.
Shortly before their engagement, the couple celebrated their fourth anniversary and the Elf actress shared a cute photo of the two standing close together and flashing big smiles towards the camera.
During an interview with Page sixScott revealed he had become a “whiny mess” during the proposal in Edinburgh.
The couple then took the next big step in their relationship by getting engaged when Jonathan popped the big question during a family getaway to Scotland in August 2023.
She also shared that Zooey’s children, Elsie, nine, and Charlie, seven, had the opportunity to help.
Deschanel shares her children with her ex-husband Jacob Pechenik. They were married from 2015 until their separation in 2019. The following year, their divorce was finalized.
‘We were on a family trip with the kids and I had planned everything in advance, to do the tour and everything. And in the end we cleaned the castle,” Jonathan recalled.
‘We were at Edinburgh Castle and we were the last people on the property. I had it set up and they said, “Oh, there’s a bagpipe band playing. Do you want to go listen?” Yes, great.’
He added: “We go up on this beautiful cliff overlooking the city and this bagpipe band is playing.”
“And then all of a sudden a guitar stepped forward and started playing Neil Young, our song, Harvest Moon.”
And (Zooey) says, “Wait, what?” And then the children held up a banner that said, “Will you marry me?” the HGTV star revealed to the outlet.
During an interview with Page Six, Scott revealed that he had become a “tearful mess” during the proposal in Edinburgh.
He also shared that Zooey’s children Elsie, nine, and Charlie, seven, had the opportunity to help out when he popped the big question.
He continued: ‘She cried and said “yes.” And I’m a crying mess. “As if the wedding is going to be a disaster because I won’t be able to get through.”
Scott also previously opened up about co-parenting Zooey’s children with her ex, Jacob Pechenik.
During a past interview with TodayHe stated, “I always knew he would be a great dad (former clown, magician, I can build things) and he’s been amazing.”
‘You see how your life transforms, your priorities become your children, and when they have a performance they are doing at school, or working on one of their homework, or whatever, it is a joy…’
Scott also previously opened up about co-parenting Zooey’s children with her ex, Jacob Pechenik.
Zooey was also previously married to Death Cab for Cutie lead vocalist Ben Gibbard from 2009 to 2012.
Jonathan was once married to Kelsy Ully from 2007 until their divorce in 2013.
Even though Scott and Deschanel still need to make wedding plans, the lovebirds have filtered through a busy schedule and have also made appearances at recent events.
Last month in December, the couple put on stylish displays while cuddling up on the red carpet during the Hollywood premiere of A Complete Unknown.
