Despite recently calling off her engagement, Zoë Kravitz remembers Channing Tatum’s “charisma.”
On Thursday, the 36-year-old daughter of singer Lenny Kravitz opened up about casting and working alongside her ex on Blink Twice, which she directed, wrote and starred in, while appearing on Variety Directors on Directors.
“Channing was the first person I thought of for Slater King, and I don’t know where that came from, just like you do,” she told Matt Reeves, who directed her in The Batman.
The multihyphenate added, “I knew the character had to be someone we thought we trusted, especially because you don’t think Naomi (Ackie) is getting on that plane if she’s someone who is immediately insidious.”
“He wanted to turn his charisma into a weapon. “We had never seen him do something like this,” he shared.
Blink Twice, which premiered in August, follows a group of women who are exposed to strange events after being invited to a billionaire tech mogul’s private island with their wealthy male friends.

The Rough Night star’s insight into her ex-lover comes two months after they ended their year-long engagement.
It was at the end of October that a source close to the Batman actress and the Magic Mike star revealed that they had broken up after three years together.
A different source told People, “The split is amicable.” They realized that they are in different stages of life.’
Another said they “haven’t been on the same page and drifted apart.”
But it’s not a goodbye forever, as the exes are scheduled to star together in their upcoming film Alpha Gang.
It is also set to star Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun, Léa Seydoux and Riley Keough.
Filming is expected to begin in mid-to-late 2025. The planned release date has not yet been confirmed.
Production insiders recently shared that the duo will move forward with the project and that they respect each other.

‘They will continue to work together and are excited about a new project. “They both love filming and creating,” they shared.
“Channing has a lot of respect for Zoë’s focus and passion.”
The split came as a particular shock to the couple, as the Deadpool & Wolverine star had been spotted with fresh ink of Zoë’s initials on the back of her hand in September.
The former couple was last photographed together on Channing’s Instagram page in a Sept. 3 post, which showed Zoë apparently sleeping on her then-fiancé’s shirtless chest while he took a selfie of the two.
In his caption, the actor serenaded his love while promoting Blink Twice.
‘This little sweet. She’s so tired bro. Every time I wondered if she would break…. She just went on and on and on,” he gushed.

The last in-person sighting of the former A-list couple appears to have been on October 6, when they were spotted on a date night at a production of the play Picture Day at Coffey Street Studio in Brooklyn’s Red Hook neighborhood.
