New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson showed off his new back tattoo, but the only thing fans seem to be worried about is his physique as he was brutally mocked.
The star has been plagued with questions and accusations about his weight since entering the league in 2019, including from prominent members of the media like Stephen A. Smith.
While significant injuries have at times prevented him from remaining fully fit, there have also been many occasions where he has been fit to play but simply seems out of place. This isn’t one of those times when Williamson is currently dealing with a hamstring strain.
But fans were still concerned on Friday when Williamson showed off a huge new tattoo that took up a good portion of his back of a demonic-looking creature with huge grinning teeth.
A video showed the process of Williamson getting a tattoo, including a portion in which he is about to serve himself a meal consisting of chicken and pasta.
But when Zion turned to the camera, fans mocked his physique, which couldn’t be described as the most athletic.
Fans mocked injured Pelicans star Zion Williamson for his not-so-athletic physique
“Being an athlete and not being in shape is disrespectful to the ngl organization,” wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter.
Another said: “That kid Zion has been eating well while missing those games.”
A different user took a screenshot of Williamson as he turned towards the camera with the caption: “It’s over.”
Fantasy sports app Sleeper’s basketball account wrote: “Brother allergic to court.”
Others pounced on the food included in the footage, with one user saying: “Man even has food in his tattoo video.”
Williamson has missed the final seven games of the NBA season due to a strained left hamstring.
Speaking to NOLA.com’s Christian Clark, he said: ‘When I left the arena, I felt good. There are no problems. Nothing, nothing. I got up the next day, went to get treatment, and said, “I feel more sore here than usual.” They reviewed it and then I got great news.
It’s unclear when he might return, as the Pelicans face six injured players, including other starters Jose Alvarado and CJ McCollum, among others.
