The two took everything in stride as fans lined up around the historic TLC Chinese Theater to catch a glimpse of the superhero stars.

The new Spider-Man movie follows on from Avengers: Endgame and sees Peter Parker headed to Europe on vacation following the death of mentor Tony Stark / Iron Man.

Rounding up Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Parker finds himself recruited by Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, to join new superhero Mysterio, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, to take on the Elementals, immortal humanoids from another dimension.

On Monday, in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Zendaya explained how the relationship between Peter Parker and MJ evolves.

"He's still young with a lot of pressure to step up to the plate and fill a void for superheroes after the end of the last Avengers movie," she said.

"But my character reflects the normal part of life that desperately still wants to have fun with a girl who is quirky, weird and has a dark sense of humor that he appreciates."
