Zayn Malik has made a rare comment about his ex-fiancee Perrie Edwards by revealing why he believes they split.
The singer, 31, dated Little Mix star Perrie, 30, from 2012 to 2015, but admitted that before that, he had never “brought a girl” home and said he didn’t really know much about life.
He said Nylon magazine: “I was committed and [planned to get] I got married and I didn’t know anything about anything at the time. I was legally allowed to do everything, but I didn’t know it.
The outlet suggested that he wanted to “recreate the normal youth” that fame had taken from him after becoming part of One Direction in his teens.
Zayn went on to have a daughter, three-year-old Khai, with his ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid, but in 2021 it was revealed that they had “distancing” amid tensions with the model’s mother, Yolanda Hadid.

Meanwhile, the Pillowtalk singer returns this Friday with his fourth solo album Room Under The Stairs, and has revealed that he’s always making songs and could have a follow-up on the way in the not-too-distant future.
In an interview with, he said, “I don’t want to reveal too much, but I’m working on a lot of music, and I might even release another album very soon.”
The Pillowtalk singer can create a tune in a day and some of the tracks on the follow-up to 2021’s ‘Nobody Is Listening’ go back a few years.
He said: ‘I like to jump from one thing to another. For me it’s quick: I have a good vibe, I write a song in two or three hours and I’ll have it all ready that same night.’
The country-tinged album is inspired by Tennessee Whiskey singer Chris Stapleton.
Zayn shared, “I was practically on my farm having a glass of whiskey and listening to some Stapleton by the fire with my dog, playing guitar.
