The future Queen of Belgium has been romantically linked to a 20-year-old Manchester student after the pair (believed to be pictured) met at Oxford University.

Rumors of a romance between the future queen of Belgium and a “normal” redhead from Rochdale were denied by the student’s family last week.

Nicholas Dodd, 20, was said to have a relationship with Princess Elizabeth, 22, that “transcends friendship” after they met at Oxford University, Belgian media reported.

However, a relative of the student ended the speculation by telling the Manchester Evening News: ‘No, that’s false.

‘They just go to the same university and study together. Like all his other friends, I can’t comment further.”

The Manchester student is believed to have met Princess Elizabeth, the eldest of the four children of King Philip and Queen Mathilda of Belgium, when she began studying History and Politics at Lincoln College.

The local publication, citing a “top source,” claims that the “ordinary” Nicholas and the princess had an “instant connection” after meeting in the same study group and developed a relationship that “transcends friendship.”

When asked about the rumours, the Royal Palace declined to comment, according to the French-language Belgian television network. RTL.

“We do not react to rumors about the private lives of members of the royal family,” a statement apparently read.

Nicholas has been described as an “intelligent and studious young man”, who appeared on the Rochdale Sixth Form College website after being accepted into Oxford University.

He wrote: ‘I applied to Oxford because I wanted the opportunity to study at a world-class university.

‘I felt I should apply because there was nothing to lose by trying! It was also worth it because the experience developed my analytical skills, so even if my application failed, the skills I learned will help me now and approach my work in the future.

‘I would recommend applying to Oxbridge even if you have doubts about yourself. You have nothing to lose and if you put some time into it it will be a worthwhile experience in itself,” he added.

Born on October 25, 2001, Princess Elizabeth is the eldest of the four children of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium.

When her father became king in 2013, Elizabeth became heir to the throne and duchess of Brabant.

Like other European royals, including Princess Eleanor of Spain and Princess Alexia of the Netherlands, Elizabeth attended Atlantic College in Wales before moving to Oxford.

Nicknamed ‘Hippie Hogwarts’, the school curriculum has included unusual activities such as Tai Chi and Tibetan literature. It has an extraordinary clifftop location in a 12th century castle in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Elisabeth signed up for a £67,000 two-year course to gain her International Baccalaureate diploma at the school, which she has now completed.

Before his two-year studies in Wales, he attended the Dutch-speaking secondary school Sint-Jan Berchmanscollege in Brussels. The Princess also attended the Yale Young Global Scholars Program at Yale University.

He then completed a year-long course in social and military sciences at the Royal Military Academy which is said to teach in-depth about the four components of Belgian defence: army, air force, navy and medicine.

According to the Belgian newspaper Le Soir, the princess took a written history entrance exam “anonymously” so that her social status would not affect her grades.

Elizabeth is believed to have chosen the course herself, according to her parents, and supposedly consulted with graduates from various universities and made her decision based on what would be most useful to her in her role as queen in the future.

An accomplished 21-year-old by any standard, the official royal website says Elisabeth enjoys walking in nature, reading and playing the piano, although like “all young people her age,” the palace writes, ” “His musical taste is varied.”
