- Fans online praised Fernandes’ ‘captain’s mind-set’
Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes was caught telling his teammates Fred and Alex Telles to ‘stop being such balls’ in an outburst that has surfaced online.
The Brazilian duo were filming outside United’s training ground when the Portugal international approached them and told them to stop filming and start training.
The meeting was captured as part of Telles’ “A day in the life” video with Brazilian football marketing agency O Clube Football, and the footage surfaced on social media this week.

Brazilian duo Fred and Alex Telles were at the end of a verbal berating from Fernandes
In the footage, United’s Brazilian duo are standing outside Carrington when Fernandes sees his teammates from afar and yells: ‘Stop being such ‘ballers’!
The Portuguese international then says: ‘You are here to play football, not to film it!’
Before telling the camera crew, “Film my d**k.”
Fred and Telles, seemingly stunned by Fernandes’ aggression, tell the midfielder: ‘Come and chill out!’

Fernandes launched his forceful tirade from one of the doors at the front of Carrington
Despite the use of expletives, the exchange is presumably joking between teammates, but that hasn’t stopped fans online from praising the Portuguese midfielder’s ‘captain mentality’.
One fan claimed, ‘You need more of this mentality. Enough Lingards and Pogbas. More Vidic and Keane mentality needed in the locker room.’
That character was shown by Roy Keane. He deserves to be the next #MUFC captain,” wrote another user.

Social media fans suggest Fernandes should be captain after watching the video
Fans asking for Fernandes as the next captain is not the most unusual of things, given the possibility that Harry Maguire could be relieved of the armband this season.
As Sportsmail reported this week, United will keep the England centre-back, but he could well be stripped of the responsibility of running the squad.
It comes after an obviously shaky 2021-22 season in which Maguire’s leadership and defensive prowess were repeatedly called into question.
Meanwhile, Fernandes’ leadership is evidenced by the fact that he has played virtually every game for United and is regarded as one of the first names on the team sheet.
