But knowing where to start can be a daunting process.

From Tinder to Plenty of Fish, and even singles with food allergies, there are thousands of apps to choose from.

To help you get started, Ofcom has published new data detailing the most popular platforms among different age groups in Britain.

So whether you’re Gen Z, a Millennial, or even a Silver Fox, use our interactive tool to find out where your peers are looking for love.

  1. Tinder (2.49 m)
  2. Hinge (1.51m)
  3. Bumble (1.44 m)
  4. Grindr (924k)

  7. Badoo (482k)
  8. PURE Connection (299k)

  10. Match (209k)

The new data is part of Ofcom’s Online Nations report, which analyzed the number of users of several popular dating apps in the month of May 2023.

While dating apps were once considered taboo, the report shows that more than one in 10 (11 per cent) of UK adults now use these services to find love.

It appears that men are looking for connections more than women: total visitors to online dating platforms are split between 61 percent men and 38 percent women.

Tinder tops the list as the most popular dating app in the UK, reaching an impressive 2.49 million Brits.

They are followed by Hinge (1.51 million users), Bumble (1.44 million users), Grindr (924,000 users) and Plenty of Fish (625,000 users).

However, data shows that dating app use varies greatly between age groups.

“Online dating services reached 20% of people aged 25 to 34, the highest reach of any adult age group,” Ofcom explained in the report.

“Young people aged 18-24 were the second most prominent visitors, with 17% visiting at least one dating service in May 2023.”
