Young New Zealand woman 'disappears' while holidaying in Bali - as her family reveal 'unusual' sign something may be wrong

The family of a young New Zealand woman on holiday in Bali has raised the alarm after not hearing from her for three days.

Kaya Awhitu traveled to Bali last Thursday, October 3, but has not been heard from since Sunday.

‘This is not like her! “We are very concerned,” his family wrote online.

“If anyone knows authorities in Bali we can contact for help, please send me a message.”

Mrs Awhitu, from Papamoa, was last seen at Rumah Surga Villa, her accommodation, in Ubud, in the south of the island.

Adding to the family’s concern is the fact that Ms Awhitu has been active on her Facebook Messenger but has not responded to their messages.

“We know there is activity on her messenger, but we feel it’s not her,” they said.

“Maybe he’s just having some downtime, but this is still unusual.”

Awhitu’s family first became concerned after she was unable to reunite with her partner.

“They were supposed to meet on a barge to go to the next place and she didn’t show up,” a family member said.

‘He has returned to the villa where they were staying and everything is packed.

“We’re really concerned because she hasn’t contacted anyone.”

More to come.
