A young mother allegedly stabbed her own daughter in the head during a frightening knife disaster on Tuesday night.
The 26-year-old walked down a street with her daughter in the Salamander Bay of the Hunter South in the New South Wales region when she pulled a knife from the sheaf.
Around 5.30 pm she allegedly got into the back of a car at a crossroads and attacked the driver and his 15-year-old daughter, causing him minor injuries.

The woman then reportedly entered a supermarket with her daughter, causing staff and customers to flee in a panic.
Apparently she injured several men by chopping them as they ran out of the store before turning the sheathed knife on her own daughter and injuring her scalp.
Officers arrived and arrested the woman. The knife was covered during the incident.
The woman was placed under police surveillance in the hospital and receives a mental health assessment.
Her daughter was taken to John Hunter Hospital, where she is treated for cracks in her scalp that are considered non-life threatening.
