Young man reveals how his boss fired him over a series of brutal text messages: 'It's the most unprofessional thing I've ever seen'

A young man suffered “the most unprofessional exchange” of his life after his boss shockingly fired him from his job via text message.

Taking to Reddit to make his case, the employee explained: “I’ve worked at this bar for two months, I’m a great employee, I’m always early, I’ve never called in sick, and I tip well.” .

In the two months he worked at the bar, the man said his boss had never approached him to comment on his work or tell him he could improve on anything.

She then received a text message from her employer informing her that “as much as I was hoping, it’s just not what I was looking for.”

“I’ve taken you off and will plan to cover those shifts for you,” his boss said.

The astonished employee was then informed to “hand over the keys as soon as possible.”

The newly unemployed worker found no shortage of sympathy when a fellow Redditor said: “My first convenience would be never.”

“He’ll never get those keys from me,” someone else agreed.

One employer who commented on the post said: “This business is very unprofessional.” I’ve always waited for someone to come in… to finish. “Never through text messages, and never without prior conversations about the crime and multiple attempts to correct it.”

Some argued (incorrectly) that firing by text isn’t even legal.

Another Redditor recounted his own cringe-worthy layoff experience.

She said: “My manager called a mandatory staff meeting, made everyone sit for a whole extra hour, and then at the end told everyone…if you weren’t on the new schedule, you didn’t work there anymore.”

‘Butt“When he had a problem with the printer, we all stood around awkwardly for about 15 minutes to see if we still had work,” he hilariously recounted.

There was very little sympathy for the employer in the bar and one person exasperatedly asked: “Who fires someone without getting the keys first?”
