A young Australian woman has expressed her frustration at constantly being refused entry to venues because of her driver’s license photograph.

In a video posted to TikTok earlier this month, Jessica, 21, revealed that she had to resort to a new license to fix the problem.

She said the photo on her license, which is three years old, results in “nowhere in Melbourne” accepting her ID.

“Every time I go out now, and you need an ID in every place… every place, every person thinks it’s fake, they say the photo is not mine, it’s not a real ID.”

He said places always ask for another form of ID, but your license is your primary form of photo ID.

Jessica said even when she tried to use her Victorian license in Sydney she was accused of having a fake ID.

‘It’s very frustrating. I’m not like an 18 year old, why would I carry a fake ID? she said.

Jessica said to prove your identity you need to show your Medicare card, MyGov, a bank card, a Crown card and log into the VicRoads app.

“I’m literally always arguing with them,” he said.

Jessica said she also had a major problem with a venue in Melbourne.

“There was one particular place in Melbourne that is so popular that it wouldn’t accept my ID at all, and I asked to speak to the manager and I was arguing with security,” he said.

“I showed them everything I had.”

“I showed them my bank card like on my phone and the name matches and they still won’t accept it.”

Jessica filmed the video sitting in her car in a VicRoads car park where she was applying for a new license with a new photo.

She shared an image of her current license photo, in which she looks very different.

“I hope by getting a new photo it works and I can breathe, because I hate it,” Jessica said.

Jessica told a follower that the process of updating the photo on her Victorian driving license was simple and free. Shown in the photo is a model of a Victorian driver's license.

“I always have a lot of anxiety.”

Jessica’s followers on TikTok sympathized with her situation.

‘I feel Vic Roads should make it mandatory to update license photos. “My partner is 25 years old and he still has the same photo from when he was 16 and it looks NOTHING alike,” one wrote.

Another wrote: ‘My license photo is 20 years old. And my signature is nothing like what it is now. I was surprised when VicRoads said I didn’t need a new photo when I recently renewed it. This is the most accepted form of photo ID, but it doesn’t look anything like me.

A third wrote: “This happens to me all the time too because I had red hair in my previous photo and the problem is I’m 22 but I still look like I’m 16.”

‘My license is free because I have a clean record and if you want a new photo, they just exchange cards!’

One follower criticized Jessica for posting about the topic: “Shitty first world problems.”

Jessica replied: ‘How? “I could be anywhere in the world and experience this.”
