A child died in an electric scooter accident and his organs were donated to save the lives of four other people.
Khye Brickell, 12, collided with a car in Mill Park, in Melbourne’s northeast, when he was seriously injured at 6pm on Wednesday.
He died in the hospital five days later and his organs were donated, saving four lives and restoring sight to two others, the Herald of the sun reported.
Safeworking Solutions CEO Jim Talbot, who is the employer of Khye’s father Lee, shared a heartfelt tribute to the young man.
“It is with deep sorrow that we remember and honor the life of 12-year-old Khye, our hearts go out to his parents Lee and Kim, and his younger brothers Tane and Ryder as they navigate this unimaginable loss,” he said.
Talbot said the organ donation highlighted the Brickell family’s “deep legacy of kindness and altruism.”
Safeworking Solutions launched a GoFundMe which has already raised almost $48,000.
“A dedicated member of the Rail Safeworking Solutions team, Lee has always been there to help others,” the page reads.

Khye was a “loved” year 6 student at Mill Park Primary School and the school posted a touching tribute.
“Khye joined our school at Prep and was known for his kindness, bright smile and caring nature,” it said.
‘He brought joy to everyone around him and will be deeply missed by his classmates, teachers and everyone who knew him.
‘Our thoughts are with Khye’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
‘Rest in peace, Khye. You will always be in our hearts.’
The 12-year-old had a great passion for sports and was part of local BMX, football and basketball clubs.
“Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends as they go through this unimaginable pain. The Mill Park Blazers club wants to support them during this difficult time,” the Mill Park Blazers basketball club wrote on Facebook.
‘We send our love and thoughts to the Brickell family. Fly high Khye.’
The driver of the vehicle involved, a 34-year-old Greensborough man, stopped at the scene and is assisting police.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are under investigation.
