Don Lemon has claimed he can’t say why Elon Musk canceled his new show on X – in an interview with old employer CNN for the first time since he was fired.
Sitting down with OutFront’s Erin Burnett Wednesday, Lemon, 58, fielded questions about the show’s sudden nixing — after just one unaired episode.
The anchor’s old network even produced never-before-seen clips from the canceled program, in which a visibly annoyed Musk, 52, hammered back at the platform questions about free speech and white nationalist conspiracy theories.
The short-lived series, called ‘The Don Lemon Show’, was scrapped soon after, leaving Lemon without a platform again.
He went on to outline the meeting in a scathing statement on Tuesday, before giving more details to old friend Burnett. It served as his first appearance on CNN since his firing, with brass reportedly paying him more than $24 million.

The meeting, which was broadcast on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET, began with Burnett directly asking about the show being canceled.
“That’s a good question for Elon Musk, frankly,” Lemon said Tuesday night.
‘What happened? I do not know.’
He continued: ‘As I said in my statement, I had a really good time with the interview.
‘I said to him while we were doing the interview – and it was tense for a few moments – I said to him: “I think it’s good for people to see people like you and me, who have different worldviews, come together and talk. “
“Like he says, have free speech,” Lemon continued.
‘Freedom of speech is only important when someone you don’t like or I would say someone who doesn’t share the same view is someone if they are allowed to speak freely and say their views.
– It doesn’t seem to matter to Elon Musk, and it’s just for talking to him or rhetoric because it doesn’t seem to matter when it’s about him. Questions about him from people like me.’
Lemon revealed earlier today that his new X show has been canned by Elon Musk after the billionaire became ‘so upset’ over their unreleased interview
