Apple Watch users can now sync their workouts automatically with Strava without a third-party solution thanks to a new HealthKit update released this week. In a note about the latest Strava for iOS update, the company says that any activity registered on the Apple Watch or an iPhone can now be imported directly into Strava.
Previously, Strava users had to download a paid third-party app to synchronize their training data. To enable the function:
- Open the Strava app and select Settings.
- Go to ‘Applications, services and devices’ and then select Health.
- Confirm by selecting Connect.
- After connection, make sure that the “Send to Health” option is enabled to upload data between your iPhone / Apple Watch and the Strava app.
If you enable this, your workouts will only be synchronized between Strava and your Apple device from now on, so if you want to import previous Strava activities, you can also do this from this Settings page. On the same Health page in the Strava app, scroll down to the activities you want to send to Health and click “Import” manually to synchronize the data.
