Yogi recalls almost 900,000 tea bags due to possible pesticide contamination

Organic tea brand Yogi was forced to recall almost 900,000 tea bags after “pesticide residue” was detected.

The specific products being pulled from shelves are Echinacea Immune Support tea bags, which are sold throughout the United States. reports CNN.

It was a class III recall, which means exposure to the product.It is not likely to cause adverse health consequences.,’ according to the FDA.

The recalls affect 54,846 packages. With 16 tea bags per package, the total number of potentially affected individual products reaches 877,536.

These specific tea bags were initially removed from the market on March 12 by Yogi’s parent company, East West Tea.

Neither the FDA nor Yogi issued any press release to address this recall.

The FDA also recently recalled a variety of yogurt-covered pretzels sold in California that are believed to be contaminated with Salmonella, a foodborne illness that affects 1.3 million Americans a year.
