Yemeni Defense Minister Mohsen Al-Daari and Army Chief of Staff Sagheer bin Aziz survived an attack launched by the Houthi militia today, Saturday, with a drone that targeted their convoy in the Al-Kadha area, south of the city of Taiz.
Military sources reported that the Houthi-led attack killed one soldier and wounded three others, according to preliminary statistics.
The sources confirmed that the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff, the Governor of Taiz, and those with them, survived the attack, which caused the burning of one of the cars.
The convoy was coming from the city of Al-Mokha on the western coast of Taiz Governorate to the city of Taiz, which has been besieged by the Houthi militia for nine years.
The attack on the convoy of the Minister of Defense coincided with another aerial bombardment by the Houthi militia targeting government forces’ positions in the west of the city of Taiz, and the temporary headquarters of Taiz governorate in the city center, as well as the bombing of residential neighborhoods.
On Friday evening, a joint military meeting in the city of Mocha discussed appropriate means to deal with the military escalation of the Houthi militia and coordination between the various fronts.
