Yemen.. The Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff survived the Houthi attack

Yemeni Defense Minister Mohsen Al-Daari and Army Chief of Staff Sagheer bin Aziz survived an attack launched by the Houthi militia today, Saturday, with a drone that targeted their convoy in the Al-Kadha area, south of the city of Taiz.

Military sources reported that the Houthi-led attack killed one soldier and wounded three others, according to preliminary statistics.

The sources confirmed that the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff, the Governor of Taiz, and those with them, survived the attack, which caused the burning of one of the cars.

The convoy was coming from the city of Al-Mokha on the western coast of Taiz Governorate to the city of Taiz, which has been besieged by the Houthi militia for nine years.

The attack on the convoy of the Minister of Defense coincided with another aerial bombardment by the Houthi militia targeting government forces’ positions in the west of the city of Taiz, and the temporary headquarters of Taiz governorate in the city center, as well as the bombing of residential neighborhoods.

On Friday evening, a joint military meeting in the city of Mocha discussed appropriate means to deal with the military escalation of the Houthi militia and coordination between the various fronts.

The meeting was chaired by Tariq Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, and included the Minister of Defense, the governors of Taiz and Hodeidah, the Chief of Staff, the commanders of the axes of Taiz, Al-Barah, Al-Hodeidah, and a delegation from the coalition.

The official Yemeni News Agency stated that the meeting discussed the formulation of practical steps to enhance and raise the efficiency of coordination between the various fronts to confront the escalation of the Houthi militia.

The meeting affirmed “full preparations, preparation of the forces and their preparation according to a unified and integrated plan, so that they are fully prepared for the next stage, to translate any options that will be taken with the emergence of practical indications of a Houthi escalation that would completely undermine the truce efforts.”

The terrorist Houthi militia escalated its threats to resume the war through statements by its leaders and movements on the ground during the past days.
