The Dutton family drama may not end with season five.
Even though Paramount+ previously announced the end of Taylor Sheridan’s hit show, Yellowstone, Deadline confirmed that ‘negotiations are underway for a sixth season.’
Although sources stressed that the deal is still up in the air, the upcoming episodes would focus on Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, who play Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, following Kevin Costner’s dramatic exit from the neo-western drama.
This comes after the on-screen couple were reportedly in talks to join Yellowstone spin-off The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer.
In April, when asked about the possibility of a sixth season, Reilly told RadioTimes: “I just care about finishing (Yellowstone) with all the care, all the passion, and all the love I can muster to put into it… I’m preparing for that now, (and) that’s my tunnel vision that matters the most to me.’
“And what happens beyond that? There are discussions, you know. Don’t believe everything you read. It’s nonsense,” he continued.

5B, which opens November 10, was originally announced as the final installment of Yellowstone.
Fans were quick to react to the news of X and called for Costner to return.
“Without Kelvin Costner it will be boring,” one predicted.
Another tweeted: “There would be no Yellowstone without Kevin Costner.”
“I wonder what it will be like without him as he was the main star,” asked a third.
Others, however, called for Hauser and Reilly to have their own “show.”
“If we get a season 6 with Beth and Rip, I’ll happily sit in front of my TV for hours,” commented one big fan.
In June, Costner confirmed he was done with Yellowstone for good.

The 69-year-old actor told his Instagram followers that he would not be returning for an appearance in Season 5B.
“Hi, everyone. I just wanted to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing everything that’s required, and thinking about Yellowstone, that beloved show that I love, that I know you all love, I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue with Season 5b or any future seasons,” Costner announced somberly as he looked into the camera.
Previous reports indicated that Costner was likely done with the series for good following conflicts between him and producers over salary, his schedule and his availability to film his multi-part western epic Horizon: An American Saga.
But fans were hoping that he might at least return to find a fitting end for his patriarch John Dutton III, but his new video has seemingly dashed those hopes for good.
“It was something that really changed me,” Costner said of the Paramount Network series.
“I loved it and I know you did too,” she reiterated. “I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be back.”
Fans were quick to react to the news of X and called for Costner to return.
“Without Kelvin Costner it will be boring,” one predicted.

Others, however, called for Hauser and Reilly to have their own “programme” already.
The actor and director concluded with what could have been a plea for his fans to watch his upcoming Horizon films.
“I love the relationship we’ve been able to develop and I’ll see you at the movies,” she said, a slight smile crossing her lips.
The announcement means Costner’s final episodes were for Season 5A, which aired from November 2022 to January 2023.
His character, the patriarch of the Dutton family, ran the Dutton Ranch in Yellowstone, a fictional ranch that was the largest in Montana.
It bordered Yellowstone National Park and the Broken Rock Indian Reservation, often putting the wealthy family at odds with their Native American neighbors and greedy real estate developers looking to take their land.
The primetime soap opera has been particularly popular with fans who applauded its so-called anti-woke politics, although the series often criticizes its main family, who have murdered several people to secure their lands and fortune.

Costner has disputed reports about the nature of his disagreements over Yellowstone, complaining that the show’s producers refused to defend him amid reports he disagreed with.
The actor has also denied that his problems with the series were due to his filming schedule for Horizon.
This comes after news broke that Reilly and Hauser were in talks to join the Yellowstone spin-off, The Madison.

Sheridan has denied being too busy due to his multiple shows and other projects.
Costner also had the added aggravation during his time off from his divorce from wife Christine Baumgartner, during which the two battled in court over their prenuptial agreement and the financial support she was requesting.
