The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders announced they have officially placed their top prospect Jason Dominguez on the seven-day injured list.
He yankees recently activated Domínguez from the 60-day IL when his rehab assignment ended and he was sent to Triple-A as they didn’t have room for him with their overcrowded outfield.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters at Fenway Park that the outfielder felt something on his left side on a controlled swing before He was removed from Saturday’s game after six innings. He will undergo tests on Sunday.
It is unclear at this time if this injury has anything to do with his recovery from an upper ligament tear and Tommy John surgery.
Dominguez certainly showed no ill effects during his rehab assignment, tearing the cover off the ball with a .356 average and 1.014 OPS in 23 games across three minor league levels.
If the 21-year-old slugger can return soon and continue to succeed, it won’t be long before he finds his way into the Yankees’ starting lineup..
Dominguez certainly looked the part in a brief cup of coffee at the major league level last season, recording a double and four home runs in just eight games before suffering the season-ending injury.
