In the middle of the World Series, some New York Yankees fans celebrated the injury of Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani, in a play that has been called ‘classless’ on social media.
Ohtani was injured after sliding into second base during Game 2 of the Fall Classic in Los Angeles on Saturday, leaving the Japanese star on the ground with a sore arm.
He was diagnosed with a subluxation (a partial dislocation) in his left shoulder and did not return to the game, which the Dodgers won 4-2.
Some Yankees fans watching from the Bronx decided to celebrate Ohtani’s injury, with a video from a bar showing some fans cheering.
One fan in particular decided to give the 30-year-old the middle finger as he lay on the ground in pain.

At a bar in the Bronx, a fan was even seen giving the injured star the middle finger.
After being helped off the field, Ohtani underwent strength and range of motion tests that came back positive.
The slugger then iced his shoulder and was able to leave Dodger Stadium without the use of a sleeve.
He underwent an MRI on Sunday morning, but the team did not provide details.
According to a text sent to ESPN’s Karl RavechDodgers manager Dave Roberts says Ohtani will play in Monday’s Game 3 at Yankee Stadium.
Before Sunday’s practice, Roberts said Ohtani still had to do his own training before confirming he will play, but he says things are moving in that direction.
“That’s my expectation when talking to the training staff and receiving the reports,” Roberts said. “If it’s a pain tolerance situation, I just don’t see it not playing Game 3.”
In his first postseason appearance, Ohtani is hitting .260/.403/.460 with three home runs and 10 RBIs, but he hasn’t stolen a base after being caught twice.
This year, Ohtani became the first member of the 50/50 club, having hit 54 home runs and stolen 59 bases in the regular season.
