After leaving Yankee Stadium to a chorus of boos, the New York fan who tried to knock the ball out of Mookie Betts’ hand in Game 4 of the World Series addressed the incident.
Tuesday’s game in the Bronx took a foul turn early on when Betts jumped into the stands to catch a Gleyber Torres hit late in the first. However, after the Los Angeles star grabbed the ball, the fan, later identified as Austin Capobianco, forcefully tried to knock the ball out of Betts’ glove.
As expected, the outfielder was not happy with Copabianco’s attempt to snatch the ball after catching it. After being escorted out of the arena, the 38-year-old Connecticut man broke his silence.
“I just want to watch the game,” he wrote shortly before Anthony Volpe’s third-inning grand slam blew up the stadium, according to The Athletic.
